The start-up meeting of Sino-German joint project “Development of a Decision Support System for the Sustainable Coastal Environmental Planning of the Shandong Peninsula, China” was held in China’s Shandong province on March 15, 2012.

The project will be co-accomplished by Yantai Institute of Coastal Zone Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (YIC) and Kiel University (Germany).　

The meeting was addressed by YIC Chair Deputy-director LUO Yongming who attached high expectation to the project and hoped that the bilateral cooperation in coastal management and decision support system would be a success. The German delegates also delivered reports at the meeting regarding the project.

The two sides drafted a guideline for ensuing work of the project, including research site selection, bilateral exchange, and maritime observation.
