YANGON, March 23 (Xinhua) -- About 219 villages in Myanmar's Rakhine state will be connected to solar power in next fiscal year 2018-2019 which will start in October, the official Global New Light of Myanmar reported Friday. As part of the National Electrification Plan (NEP), 16 townships and those 219 villages in Rakhine state will be provided with 11,333 units of solar electricity in FY 2018-2019. With support from the World Bank and funds from the Union Government and from the general public, the NEP was started in last FY 2016-2017. A total of 4,492 households in 68 villages and 166 units for public facilities will be outfitted with 60 watt (W) and 100 watt (W) in present FY 2017-2018 while about 31,363 households in 549 villages as well as 4,091 units for public facilities were provided with solar power in FY 2016-2017.
