China's first giant scope out of this world

China's first astronomical telescope – dubbed heaven eye – with a resolution of one hundred million pixels is put into use at an observatory in Huai'an city, Jiangsu province on Dec 20. The Schmidt Telescope, with 1.2 meter caliber, used to have 16 million pixels. In the past six years, it has discovered more than one thousand small planets. After four months' efforts, scientists upgrade the system to 100 million pixels. [Photo/Xinhua]
