Prof. Ralf Conrad from Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology and Prof. Hailiang Dong from University of Miami visits YIC
Prof. Ralf Conrad and Prof. Hailiang Dong were invited to take part in the 1st international coastal biology congress (ICBC) and gave the presentation in the Main Sessions. On September 28th, Prof. Ralf Conrad gave an presentation with the topic of “Factors controlling the pathway of microbial methane production in anoxic environments.” He explained the production progress of methane and the factors that controlled the progress and discussed about the proposed problems with attendees on this conference.
Prof. Hailiang Dong gave an presentation with the topic of “Clay mineral-microbe interactions: an important mode of energy generation in marine sediments.” He explained the mechanism and the research methods of interaction between clay and microbiology reduction and discussed about the proposed problems with attendees on this conference.
Prof. Ralf Conrad is the director of Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology. In 2010, he was appointed as Einstein Visiting Professor of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. His direction of research is soil microorganisms and biogeochemistry. So far, he has published about 249 articles (1published in Science) and 37 monographs. He is the editor in chief of FEMS Microbiology Ecology, Environmental Microbiology, Systems and Applied Microbiology and Biogeochemistry so on.
Prof. Hailiang Dong is the professor of University of Miami and also the director of the geomicrobial lab in China University of Geosciences. He is an expert of Thousand Talents program.He has published about 140 SCI articles (2 published in Science and 1 in Nature Communication).He found the activity of microorganisms could catalyse the reaction of “Montmorillonite-illite” for the first time in 2004.
