Professor Shao Hong-Bo from the Seaside Wetlands Laboratory, Yanati Institute of Coastal Zone Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences(YIC-CAS) was invited to participate in the 41st Annual Meeting of European Society for New Methods in Agricultural Sciences Research(ESNA) held in Slovak from Sept 24 to 29,2012.
A total of over 260 experts and scholars from more than 30 countries attended the conference. Professor Shao was the second key note speaker and made the presentation of “Plant stress biology in maintaining sustainable development of coastal zone: disciplinary roles and relationship”, in which he introduced the concept of coastal sustainable development, ideas, related disciplinary roles and relationship and some advances in plant stress physiology and ecology, natural- and artificial-restoration practices, improvement methodology for degraded wetlands from the Lab of YIC-CAS. He also reported the updated achievements and related platforms in environmental monitoring and bio-resources high-efficiency utilization from YIC-CAS to calling for closed cooperation between YIC-CAS and related organizations of EU.
Many scientists from EU showed interest in cooperating with YIC-CAS such as international plant physiologists Professor RETO J STRASSER (UNIVERSITY OF GENEVA,SWITZERLAND),Professor HAZEM M KALAJI(WARSAW UNIVERSITY,POLAND),Professor MARIAN BRESTIC(SLOVAK UNIVERSITY OF AGRICULTURE). These experts will visit YIS-CAS in November for academic activities, to increasing the international cooperation with YIC-CAS and providing better basis for the practical cooperation between YIC-CAS and EU.
